That's why you hear so much noise that quiets down as you go; as everything warms up the parts fit together as designed. Internal combustion engines are designed to run within a set temp range (for heat expansion) so that the components work together as designed within set tolerances. You need to be careful with the start and go, because depending on how long you run it for (your commute) it may or may not get hot enough, long enough to burn off any condensation in the crankcase. If so it will start to sludge up the engine; using synthetic helps with this a lot but ultimately short trips and not getting then engine warm enough for a period of time will cause sludge buildup to happen.
