Well not 100 % yet, but he is at least willing to price out raw materials, and work out estimated time and expenses involved to reproduce parts. I went over my entire plan for all the parts I would like fabricated starting with the tubes first of course and he seams eager and willing. I am hopeful but not getting too excited yet till I receive cost estimate.

The thing is this could be an entirely new market segment that is not out there yet.

Besides the items previously listed we discussed Valve covers and coil & half covers all 1 part. old school style. and moving PCV to passenger side valve cover.

License plate holder frames and brackets to get them off the fascias.
Rear fascia lower skirt between exhaust tips.
    Oil Pan
ABS / Fuse box hinge brackets and others.

He has been in business 6 1/2 years 4,000 sq ft shop nicely outfitted has 2 employees looking for more work and hoping to expand. so we shall see.

I drove the Bee to his shop about 1 hour from me. He was shocked when I told him it was 12 years old. Was nice to pedal to the metal a few times.

Nice. Sounds like it's good that he is a small shop and doesn't have a lot of overhead that he needs big production runs. Hopefully his cost is not too high for what you are hoping.

Yes we talked about pricing a bit without any $$ value and he did agree that the more parts he made the cheaper costs would be. He has made A Harley bike for himself from scratch and even produce his own aluminum rims, fabricated his fenders and gas tank, does a lot of tool and die work.

I think it would be a good fit for him, But it is his business. Fingers crossed.

Sounds like big money unless you can get at least 10 or more people. Startup costs in a machine shop will be very high. Or he will do it cheap and hope to break even. Y9u better go on a lot of other forums to get this going

Yes I have 15 local owners wanting parts, and posted on 1 other site this am to see if interest is there. The owner Jeff has a line on a mandrel bending machine that he has been eyeing.
He has all the equipment he needs mills lathes cnc equip. presses, drills, welders, surface grinders, grinders, to make all his own dies etc, only missing piece is bender. Been in operation 6 1/2 years lease 4,000 sq ft new multi unit shop.
Not a start up per say. That is why I think it would be a good addition to what he has.

Oh OK foolish me !!! I fully expect the initial parts to cost more do to set up that I am willing to pay simply because the tubes on my car are rusting inside of them and want to get rid of the OEM Coolant transfer tubes. I know the 5.7 & 6.1 tubes are identical. and OEM replacement cost for these 2 tubes is $ 180.00 So even at $ 400.00 it is worth it to me to.

What would you be willing to pay for these tubes ???

Go figure, after I buy new OEM replacement rad hoses I get a call today from another local shop that originally turned me down. He asked if I was still interested in having them made. So today I took him my old Rad hoses and we discussed them, he will get back to me next week with a price.
He said if I agree with him on price he will have them ready the following week.

Christmas may come early this year. I will post a pic or 2 after I get them but I will not install them till spring 2019 since I just went through glycol system repairs and upgrades.

I had just about given up on them, since he called me I am guessing he needs the work may be some haggling room. $$$
