Weird screeching noise

    Last night I was taking the recycling out to the garage and i heard a weird screeching noise that at first I thought it might be a bird it was that high of a pitch. After following the noise I tracked it down to somewhere in the engine bay of the car. Can't imagine what it would be if it was something mechanical opening and closing or what but I figured it was not something to just let go. So I started the car, backed it up pulled it back in the garage and shut it off (Real good diagnostic skills huh? lol) Anyway after that it didn't do it anymore.

    I did... not much to sre with the big plastic cover lol.

    Even if I removed the cover I'm not sure it was something external that i could visually see it

    Now i drove the car to work today and running around tonight and no issues so whatever it was, it was weird.

    This is kind of bizarre.
    I'm guessing the car was off, but if it had been recently running,
    perhaps some kind of pressure release from the cooling system?

    yes the car was off. It had been sitting for around 3 hours

    yea, and I was not tearing the engine apart to find it like LB3711 suggested lol. My original thought is this sound like something mechanical and if it keeps doing it it will kill the battery eventually

    Perhaps your car it not what it seems.....
    perhaps it is really a transformer and you caught it re-shaping itself?
